Assessment tool: Poll survey

Purpose: This tool is a fast and quick way to assess where your learners are with regards to a lesson or content. This tool has the ability to assess prior knowledge or recently acquired knowledge. The poll results are tabulated and
displayed for teacher and class providing an informal measure of understanding.
Rationale: This tool is something that is "quick and dirty", a necessity in any assessment toolkit. It gets the student thinking right away and provides the immediate feedback necessary for teaching and planning. It allows the teacher to adjust approach regarding lessons and acts as an informal review for students.
21CLD connection: This tool connects students through smartphones, laptops or computers. It provides immediate feedback on the assessment. By studying the results students can determine as a whole class the areas of interest or difficulty. It becomes an effective way for students to communicate their understanding in a non-threatening way.
